Export Guide

Export from Zotero or EndNote

Move your library into CiteGeist in minutes. Follow the checklists below to export your references from Zotero or EndNote, then upload the file to CiteGeist.

Universal Quick Start

  1. Open your reference manager and select the library or collection you want to export.
  2. Export to BibTeX (.bib or .txt) so CiteGeist can import the metadata.
  3. Save the export file somewhere easy to find (Downloads or Desktop).
  4. In CiteGeist, choose Import, upload the file, and confirm the results.

Zotero Export

Zotero exports cleanly to BibTeX. Export a full library or just a collection and upload it to CiteGeist for instant deduplication.

Checklist

  • Select your library or a collection in Zotero.
  • Open File > Export Library (or right-click a collection and choose Export Collection).
  • Choose BibTeX as the export format.
  • Enable notes and files only if you want them included. You can save the file as .bib or .txt — both work in CiteGeist.
  • Upload the exported file into CiteGeist and review the import summary.

EndNote Export

EndNote exports to BibTeX from your library or a selected group. Import the file into CiteGeist to get started.

Checklist

  • Open your EndNote library and select All References or a group.
  • Go to File > Export and choose the destination folder.
  • Set Output Style to BibTeX before exporting.
  • Save the file with a .bib or .txt extension — both are accepted by CiteGeist.
  • Upload the export file to CiteGeist and verify the imported metadata.
